The story follows SELENE, an early 20s, reclusive writer who's rushing to get ready for a party. While shaving, she finds a strange skin condition has appeared on her legs, eerily resembling that of dehydrated fish scales. As the story progresses, Selene develops more and more fish-like symptoms: webbing between her fingers, gills on her neck, and scales cover her entire body. In an attempt to stop the spread, Selene resorts to violent forms of self-mutilation. But by the time her roommate, KATRINA, learns of the crisis, it's too late to save her.

Inspired by the melancholy of Thirteen (2003) along with the paranoia of Black Swan (2010) and Saint Maud (2019), Siren captures the intensity of co-dependent friendship through a body horror lens. It's a psychological thriller set in a world of speculative fiction, avoiding traditional action beats often found in films of similar content. Taking place almost exclusively inside Selene and Katrina’s apartment, the atmosphere is claustrophobic and oppressive while executed in a shooting style reminiscent of 2000s digital cinema.
